LH Plus Excellence in Environmental Management and Sustainability Leadership

LH PLUS has been recognised for its environmental performance through the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award (PMHA) 2024/2025, Malaysia’s highest national recognition for excellence in environmental management and sustainability practices. The 2024/2025 award cycle recorded the highest participation since the programme’s inception, with 81 companies from across the Malaysian economy voluntarily subjecting their environmental practices to a rigorous evaluation process.

This cycle saw strong representation from sectors including manufacturing and chemicals, energy, construction and engineering, hospitality, oil palm plantation, as well as continued participation from traditionally higher-impact industries such as oil and gas, demonstrating a broad-based commitment to environmental accountability. The increased participation of small and medium enterprises further reflects a growing alignment with evolving ESG expectations, supply chain requirements and green financing considerations.

The Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award highlights the Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening environmental governance and promoting responsible business practices nationwide. Jointly organised by the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the Environmental Management and Research Association of Malaysia, with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability and the Department of Environment, the award remains a credible and respected benchmark for environmental excellence.

This recognition reinforces LH PLUS’s strategic focus on sustainability, continuous improvement and long term value creation through responsible and compliant environmental management.

On 19 December, LH Plus Sdn. This prestigious recognition honors organizations that have successfully adopted smart technologies and innovative manufacturing practices, contributing to higher efficiency, improved quality, and sustainable operations.

The MSMA supports Malaysia’s national agenda to accelerate industrial transformation in line with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030). Now in its second year, the award is co-organized by Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) and Bizsphere Brand and Marketing Group, with support from Smart4WRD and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). Empowering Organizations with AI Strategies for Sustainable Productivity

On September 10 and 11, 2025, a two-day program entitled “Productivity in Context: AI Enhances Productivity” was successfully conducted in collaboration with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) . Held at LH Plus, the program was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to enhance organizational efficiency and competitiveness through Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Throughout the two days, participants explored how AI can be applied to improve business performance. Sessions focused on streamlining operations, automating repetitive tasks, and transforming data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making. The program featured expert-led presentations, case studies, and interactive discussions, ensuring that attendees gained both theoretical understanding and practical applications relevant to their organizations.

A highlight of the program was the contribution of Ts. Syahmi Sadan, Managing Director of Revenue Discovery , who served as the trainer. His professional insights and practical guidance provided participants with valuable perspectives on how AI can be implemented effectively to deliver measurable productivity improvements.

Our partner’s procurement and engineering team reached out to us with a special request—one that was far more than just a business need. A loyal Rubbermaid consumer had developed a strong reliance on the Rubbermaid Litterless Juice Box, a product that was discontinued several years ago. However, this was not just any request. The consumer’s family member, Scott, has Down Syndrome and is on a liquid-only diet. The only container he knows, trusts, and is willing to drink from is the Rubbermaid Juice Box. With their existing supply running out, the family was desperate to find more, as it was essential to Scott’s daily routine and well-being.

Understanding the urgency and the emotional weight behind this request, our team immediately took action. We worked quickly to source and provide 180 units of this discontinued product, ensuring Scott could continue to use the drinking solution he was most comfortable with.

What we received in return was a heartfelt message from our partner, expressing their deep appreciation for our responsiveness and willingness to help. In their words, this was not just about fulfilling a request it was about changing lives. Their gratitude reminded us that sometimes, the smallest actions can have the biggest impact.

Thanks to the generosity of our CEO, Callum Chen. We were able to provide essential hospital items to make her daily life more comfortable. Distribution School Aid Charity At S.R.J.K (C) Kampung Gurney.

On 8th November 2019 LH PLUS SDN BHD successfully distributed 100 school aid charity kits to students from 10 schools around Serendah and Kuala Kubu Baru. We provided them with brand new school supplies. We hope with this small contribution we are able to spark their spirits and motivate them to do well in school. The Hearts & Hands Charity program are blessed to share the blessings with them.

Special thanks to those who took the time and efforts to be part of this event, especially to YB June Leow Hsiad Hui, Member of Parliament Hulu Selangor.

Human Resource Development Fund Visit To LH Plus Sdn Bhd

Mr. Callum with HRDF Chief Executive Mr. Elanjelian visited LH Plus Sdn Bhd on December 17th 2018 @ LH Plus Sdn Bhd. The purpose of the visit was to understand the Industry Revolution 4.0 implementation in the plastic manufacturing sector, their challenges, impacts and plans moving forward.

What is Industry 4.0?
Industry 4.0 is automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. Industry 4.0 fosters what has been called a “Smart Factory”.

Within modular structured smart factories, cyber-physical systems monitor physical processes, create a virtual copy of the physical world and make decentralized decisions.
Over the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems communicate and cooperate with each other and with humans in real-time both internally and across organizational services offered and used by participants of the value chain.

Workers Hostel

It isn’t easy living in a hostel, especially when you have to deal with other people’s different lifestyles and habits. This is especially so for foreign workers, who come from rural areas and may not be familiar with the ways of keeping their place clean and working together to do so. This makes it possible for hostels to be left in a mess, especially when left unchecked.

This was so for LH Plus in the beginning, when an audit was done by Walmart on the hostels here. “At the time the hostels, like most hostels, didn’t make the cut of being a clean and safe place to stay,” said CEO of LH Plus, Callum Chen. Upon realising the condition of these hostels, a plan was devised that would make everyone living in the hostels willingly clean up after themselves and for LH Plus’ management to provide for them in return.

That was when the Hostel Management Program was implemented, where an audit was created for the hostel residence to follow, achieve and score on. With each score, more challenges are presented to motivate residents to keep doing their best in keeping their hostels clean and comfortable to live in.

This includes:

Safety – Every residence must have a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit and a smoke alarm installed. If the fire extinguisher levels are off or expired, or the first aid kit has run out of supplies, the management is to be informed.

Cleanliness – All floors and table tops must be kept clean, free of dust and residue. Sinks must be clean and dishes must also be washed. Insecticides were also provided to handle any possible pest issues.

Management – To make their residence more appealing, management has given them paints with colours of their choice, upon which they paint their hostel themselves with them. New beds, mattresses, sheets and covers were provided for. As such, clothes must be hang in proper areas, sheets must be changed and clean.

Once the basics have been given, a leader and an assistant is elected by the residence to be given the responsibility of keeping their residence clean and safe, ensuring that the residence themselves are communicating and looking out for each other to keep their place clean. “We have a schedule that we follow every day,” says Ambar from Production, leader of one of the Hostels. “We clean the place at least twice a day, once during the day and the other at night.”

Golam from OSH & 5S who is also a leader in another hostel says, “As leaders we make sure everyone does their part. But eventually everyone does what they can, regardless of the schedule.”

Check-ups were then done monthly and small prizes of basic necessities such as sugar or rice were given to those who scored well in the Hostel Management Program. As it progressed, the competition grew and in this way, the hostel became cleaner and more organised. In the next level, audits were still done monthly, but prizes were given quarterly to ensure a higher budget for bigger and better prizes so this included furniture, dining sets, fridge, TV and more. There are even certain hostels who hold the record of winning at least three times since the Hostel Management Program was implemented, and they have received these items that have made their hostel a lot more comfortable.

A trophy is also given for the winner of that quarter to hold on to for 3 months before given to another winner. This ensures that everyone has a chance to win and not just one hostel wins every time.

“When people are well rested and happy with the clean place they are living in, there will be less accidents, less absenteeism and less sickness. There will also be higher efficiency and they are more alert at the work place,” said Callum with pride. “This creates a culture where if they can keep the hostels clean, they can also keep the workplace clean as well.” As of now, the hostel residence have all reported their satisfaction with the program and are happy with the place that they are staying in now.
